The Gail S. Halvorsen Aviation Education Center at the Spanish Fork – Springville Airport will serve as the South Utah County Headquarters for the Civil Air Patrol. The Gail S. Halvorsen Aviation Education Center will also assist the community in disaster preparedness planning and provide the opportunity for staging an emergency response center.
“A Flight to Remember…A Heroes Legacy” Gala honoring Gail Halvorsen “The WWII Candy Bomber” was held September 22, 2017 at the Courtyard at Jamestown in Provo, Utah. Guests were treated to an entertaining evening of dinner, music and live auction. Halvorsen attended this intimate and heartwarming evening held to honor his legacy of hope. Proceeds raised from the Gail Halvorsen “The Candy Bomber” Gala were dedicated to creating a memorial exhibit and aviation education center located in Spanish Fork, Utah.
Particpants celebrated Gail Halvorsen’s 96th birthday by performing simple acts of service for strangers. Halvorsen has dedicated his life to the service of others and believes “service before self is the only way to fulfillment in life.” This inspiring event uplifted participants and recipients alike.
