National Council for History Education (NCHE) Conference, March 23-25, 2023

Freedom From, Freedom To

The Foundation is excited to participate in the National Council for History Education (NCHE)
Conference that will be held March 23-25, 2023. The theme for this year’s annual conference is
“Freedom From, Freedom to” hearkening to the Four Freedoms included in the WWII Atlantic Charter
agreement between the USA and UK. The conference will be held at the Salt Lake Marriott Downtown at
City Creek.

A Direct Line

Dr. Jim Stewart, Executive Director of the Foundation said, “We’re excited to participate with NCHE in
this premier educational activity. That NCHE is focusing on principles that motivated the Allies during
WWII and provided some of the motivation for the Berlin Airlift is significant. You can draw a direct
line from the Atlantic Charter to Gail’s work as the Berlin Candy Bomber.”

Presentation and Booth

Ruth King, a member of the Foundation’s Board of Advisors, along with other
Board of Advisors members Debbie Draper and Julie Siebach—will be giving a presentation on March 25th at 8:30 am entitled “How One Candy Bomber’s Revolutionary Ideas and Actions Changed the World.”
